Monkey Business, Racial Slur and the gentleman's game...

This beats me. What would you be more upset with? Someone calling you a monkey, or someone referring to your ancentry in bad light.

Absolutely beats me why the Harbhajan Symonds row ending in a 3 match ban for "normal abuse" is hailed as a win. And why a racial slur was worse.

What examples are our "heroes" setting for the young impressionable minds? Either which way, Bhajji should be banned for life. And Symonds. And anyone who abuses what used to be the gentleman's game, for a long time (before money started coming in).

Amen.

How to prevent Aging

Check out this article. How to prevent Aging.

A must read for all. No point in being old, and actually looking and feeling old, when you reach that stage. You might as well as feel a bit younger then. And you have to invest now!

Miss America, and World Peace

Reading something like this, New Miss America Once Battled Anorexia , makes you wonder the merits of the beauty queen paegents.
Just three years ago, newly crowned Miss America Kirsten Haglund was eating
tiny portions of food and became so thin her concerned parents "dragged me to
the doctor."

Haglund was diagnosed with anorexia, and the lack of nutrition
caused her collar bones to stick out, her heart rate to drop and her
relationships to suffer.

I would feel fatigued walking up six stairs," the
19-year-old Haglund said Sunday, a day after being crowned Miss America 2008. "I
was a completely different person. It's not a pretty sight."
Haglund plans to
spend her yearlong reign, trying to raise awareness of eating
disorders,...

Maybe you can eat some yourselves too? (and of course, while you promote "World Peace". Make sure Bush Jr. is not around... Aha, lucky you, he won't be in a couple of months)

Unlocked iPhones in India and Indian Bloggers

I love gadgets (and you thought that was a guy's prerogative? :-) ) and this article made a very interesting read (a quarter of iPhones 'unlocked'). I have seen it work, here in India - one of my friends uses it (not in Bangalore though).

Do you have one that has worked in Bangalore?
Of course the web is full to its throat on iPhone, and how to hack and unlock it. Not heard much of it from the Indians.
That also makes me think, while the world outsources its best brain work to India, we are so very shy (or scared) to express and talk! Look at the bloggers who are Indians and are based in India. Compare it to Americans (or for that matter Phillipinos). Factor in our population. And it doesn't make any sense.
Why are we so laid back when it comes to expressing our opinions?

Foods that fool

This article (15 foods that can fool you) made an interesting read. While this article is predominantly talking of what is happening in the US, you don't have to look that far to see it happen in reality.
With our growing standard of living (huh?), new breed of brands have mushroomed (including mushrooms, yes), that target the health conscious, upmarket, hip, rich, whatever you may call them. Look at the organic food shops and herbal shops. 10 years back, did you know what organic farming was? And I am not sure what they are peddling. I pay more for everything that is healthy, but is it?

Wish someone would study the Indian market for such wares. (like Cereals, Chips, Cookies, Crackers, Salty snacks, Packaged meats, Juices, Salad, Vegetable substitutes, Baked goods, Seasonings, Frozen desserts, Dairy treats, Masalas, Children's Foods,...).

Know of any source? Please write back.

Sehwag's Ton Goes In Vain, Australia Win Series 2-1

Virender Sehwag scored his 13th century but that went in vain as India drew the final Test of the four-match series against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

Australia won the series 2-1 and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.Riding on Sehwag's 151, India made 268 for seven in the second innings, following their 526 in the first innings. Australia scored 563 in the first innings. After taking a lead of 231 runs in the final session of the fifth day, India captain Anil Kumble decided to settle for a draw in decision taken with Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.
Sachin Tendulkar was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 153 in the first innings and Australian pace spearhead Brett Lee was named the Man of the Series for picking up 24 wickets in the four Tests.Resuming at their overnight score of 45 for no loss, India scored at a brisk rate courtesy Sehwag's century in a bid to set a challenging target for Australia on the final day. But the match had been heading for a draw right from the fourth day.The only highlight of the Indians' second innings was Sehwag's knock, which lasted 236 balls, during which the Delhi dasher hit eleven fours and a couple of sixes.Sehwag looked to have regained peak form and his invigorating century suppressed the failure of the other batting greats, some of whom are playing for the last time Down Under, in the second innings. India added 97 runs in the morning session.
Sehwag completed his 13th century before lunch and helped India take a 105-run lead after the first session's play.Rahul Dravid (11) had to retire hurt after being hit on the fingers by Lee's short-pitched delivery. Dravid went on the back foot and defended but missed the line. The ball jammed his fingers against the bat handle, leaving him in a lot of pain. Dravid continued for a while but when the pain increased he returned to the dressing room. That paved the way for Tendulkar (13), who came out to loud applause. But the little maestro failed to get a big innings and was run out by Mitchell Johnson.
Tendulkar tapped one to the leg side and set off. Realising his mistake, he tried to turn back but Johnson's throw was accurate and he was short of his ground.None of this appeared to faze Sehwag in the slightest. He cover-drove Lee and then cut him uppishly past gully to reach his half-century from 78 balls. There was also a lovely drive behind point, and a glance for four as the lead started to grow.Brad Hogg's introduction only accelerated the progress. After taking him over long-on for a massive six, Sehwag played two superb cover-drives, before a single to mid-on off Johnson got him to three figures. In the course of his knock, Sehwag hit Brad Hogg for a six and a four in three balls to enter the 70s. The left-arm spinner conceded 12 runs in that over.
Sourav Ganguly (18) and Sehwag saw the Indians through to lunch without further damage. But Ganguly failed to contribute much and was caught by Mike Hussey off Johnson after lunch. V.V.S. Laxman lasted 30 balls for his 12 runs and edged to Adam Gilchrist off Lee.
When the umpires called for the tea interval, India were at 210 for four, with Sehwag batting on 132 and Mahendra Singh Dhoni on five. Dhoni fell soon after tea and was followed by Sehwag, whose glorious innings came to an end after he edged to Gilchrist off Andrew Symonds.

Tendulkar ton puts India in command

Australia v India, 4th Test, Adelaide

INDIA was 309 for Five at stumps on the first day of the final Test after Sachin Tendulkar recorded his 39th Test century.

It is Even Stevens at close of play on Day 1, with India having made steady progress and Australia having done half the job. However, the headache for Australia is still not cured.
Sachin Tendulkar is batting magnificently on 124 and he has looked to be in dangerous form. He was the one who really held the Indian innings together with good support from Laxman and Virender Sehwag.
But India will be a touch disappointed for not having been able to get one big partnership. Both Laxman and Sehwag failed to convert the starts they got and now it will be interesting to see how they go about the rest of their innings. Australia will be keen on picking up the wickets as soon as possible. It is a great battle on the cards.

Money and Traffic from Associated Content

"Associated Content" is a platform that enables everyone to publish their content in any format on any topic and then distributes that content to engaged audiences through its website and content partners. Those who contribute to Associated Content's ad-supported collection of original text, video, audio and images gain exposure and often earn cash for their participation.”

If you write original (and unique) content, Associated Content is a good way to make money; they pay $1.5 per thousand page views (PPM); you earn $1,500 if you have 1,000,000 page views.

You can make money from page views on Associated Content and at the same time drive traffic to your website by putting a link at the bottom of your articles. After you have written an article and you want to do a second part, at the bottom of the first part add something like this “Part 2 coming soon” and your website address after. This will certainly bring traffic to your website, even if it’s a two year old article and you didn’t write a second part, people will still go to your website to read the second part if they liked the first one.

They pay through PayPal if you have at least $1.50 in your balance, and they pay international members. When you signup you agree that Associated Content (AC) can republish your articles in any format or language, if you chose to give exclusivity to AC you will receive higher upfront payment and you are not allowed to publish that article in any form. Or you can retain the right to publish the article anywhere.

If you are planning to signup remember: you must write original content that must contain many high values keywords (this is for the search engines), there is no limit on how many articles you can submit or how much money you can make.

This program will bring you traffic for a long time.

Truly Inspiring! Blogging from Antartica...

Dr Sudhir Khandelwal, a psychiatrist engaged in research in Antarctica maintains his blog while sharing useful insights from life in Antarctica which most of us have never dreamt of. Based at the Indian research station of Maitri, he is a member of the Indian Scientific Antarctica Expedition. It was interesting to read the post on Internet connectivity there.
(His blog was mentioned in HT)

I loved reading his blog - more because of intrigue of Antartica than anything else.

I am sure in 5-10 years, there will be affordable cruises to take us all the way to Antartica. (And sure enough, we will have Indian Motels and Dhabas to make us feel at home. And conducted tours.)
Ok, on a serious note, this is one of the things on my check list. 1000 places to see before you die.
Oh, this picture on the top is thrown in just as a bonus - to create the ambience... :-)

Oh, thank you! "Blog Of The Day Awards"

Was in for a pleasant surprise today. Have won the "Blog Of The Day Awards". Umm, the logo sure looks nice on the sidebar.

Was thinking... Been some time since I have been blogging. It started off as an experiment, to express, to explore, to reach out, to see the possibility of earning. And I must say, I am loving every bit of it.

But it all takes time. To get noticed. To be recognized. To be heard.
I liked this quote:
"People all around me seem to be seeking riches, fame, property, material
possessions . . . only some seem to share the same goal I have of contentment."
Thanks to everyone who dropped by! (And I shall stop before this becomes an Oscar speech. That reminds me - I am sure looking forward to this years oscars... Who shall it be? Want to guess?)

'Futuristic' Team India takes us back to the past

Does the Board of Control for Cricket in India selection committee have two left hands? That could explain the clumsiness of leaving out Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman from the 16-member one day international squad for the series commencing on February 3. After the historic win in Perth, the selection committee, once termed by Mohinder Amarnath as a “bunch of jokers”, was expected to show wisdom in selecting the squad, or at least a better sense of timing. Making the announcement on the eve of the Adelaide Test is the best way to throw the team off balance.

Selection committee chairman Dilip Vengsarkar, who has often made news for the wrong reasons, must take full responsibility for the decision which flies in the face of logic. One can accept the exclusion of Laxman, as he has never been a big-hitter. But as far as Ganguly and Dravid’s cases are concerned, they are capable of reproducing the same form they have shown in Tests. Ganguly is also capable of churning out effective medium-paced bowling. Dravid was left out of the ODI squad for the home series against Pakistan. But after the effulgent 93 at Perth, he should have been retained as he lends stability to the side. A man who has served Indian cricket durably, Dravid is being singled out for punishment needlessly. Or are the selectors trying to get even with him for quitting the Test captaincy to focus on his batting? There has been a strong feeling in the BCCI that young talent needs to be blooded. Nobody minds that, but in a series where MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have flopped, it does not make sense.

Victory @ Perth

ANIL Kumble and his boys deserve all the praise you can give them for India’s unbelievable 72-run victory against Australia in the third Test on Saturday. Pre-match predictions of how the Australian pace artillery would obliterate India on the dicey Perth track turned out to be fiction.
The Indian batting showed character and courage through not just Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, but also the forgotten men — Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan.
For India, the victory has come at the right time after the defeat in Sydney, where umpiring standards plummeted to abysmal depths and ugly allegations of racism were raised by Ricky Ponting. To be sure, the Australians were looking for their 17th Test win on the trot in Perth, where India had never won a Test before. There was a great deal of pre-match hype created by the Australians that a win in Perth was a certainty. But soon the hosts were struggling against the effective Indian bowling. Not even die-hard Indian fans had thought that the young pace attack comprising RP Singh, Ishant Sharma and Irfan Pathan would come through. And as India went for the kill on the fourth day of the Test, it was the effective spin of Kumble and Sehwag which spelt Australia’s doom on a twin-paced wicket.
For a series which ran the risk of being abandoned after the Sydney fiasco, a win like this is going to spark huge interest in Test cricket again. People have heard of Australia winning a match within four days and if India have achieved “Mission Impossible,” it has come at the right time. The last time Australia lost a Test match at home was in 2003, so this defeat is special.
A word in praise of the support cast is a must: Coach-designate Gary Kirsten, Lalchand Rajput, Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh played their role in the background as part of this superb team effort which will be remembered for long.

Inspired India end Australia's streak

India tamed the Kangaroos at Perth as the visitors clinched a spectacular victory against Australia in the third Test at Perth on Saturday. Trailing 0-2 in the four-match series, the visiting side won by 72 runs.

The win brings to an end a fascinating little period both in terms of cricket on the field and off it, and a victory is no more than India's endeavor and attitude has deserved. There was much hope before the series that India could win a Test match or two, but I doubt anyone predicted it would be at the WACA, where India's forever maligned pace attack would not be able to exploit the conditions. How wrong we were.

What can we expect by means of epilogue? Well, Harbhajan still has his appeal to go to, so the fourth Test at Adelaide could still be in danger; the Aussie public are still not too happy with Ponting at the moment; and Kumble will have plenty of ammo to galvanize his troops for the next, must-win Test.

Kumble gets 600 wickets

Anil Kumble became only the third bowler to break the 600-wicket mark when he dismissed Andrew Symonds on the second afternoon of the third Test in Perth. Kumble, who reached the landmark in his 124th Test, joined his spin colleagues Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan in the elite club.

It required a tremendous appeal. A fastish legbreak caught Symonds' edge, deflected off Mahendra Singh Dhoni's glove before popping up to Rahul Dravid at first slip. Asad Rauf didn't seem too convinced by the appeal but finally raised his finger after a prolonged thought. It was a big wicket in the context of the game, considering Symonds leading a brilliant counter-attack along with Adam Gilchrist.

Kumble, almost on his haunches during the long appeal, couldn't hide his joy, clenching his fists and punching the air. He was soon mobbed by his team-mates and received a warm applause from a sizeable crowd here. Taking the ball from Rauf, he held it up to the stands and let out the characteristic modest smile.

While his 400th and 500th wicket came at home, in Bangalore and Mohali respectively, his 600th was achieved on a hot day in Perth. Coming on to bowl in the 28th over, on a pitch more suited to pace than spin, he was smashed for ten runs in his first over before returning to undo Symonds after the tea break.

Bharat Ratna: Do you need a nomination?

Bharat Ratna seems be up for grabs to the loudest voice (or the bullies maybe).

I too am inclined to nominate someone for the same. Let me know if you think you deserve it. I promise to have your nomination put here in this blog! :D

Read on...

Close on the heels of BJP leader leader L K Advani demanding Bharat Ratna for former Premier Atal Behari Vajpayee, BSP supremo Mayawati on Saturday said the country's highest civilian award should also be conferred on party founder late Kanshi Ram.
"Kanshi Ram should also be conferred Bharat Ratna for his invaluable contributions in the uplift of dalits and the oppressed," she said at a hurriedly-called press conference here.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister made it clear that she was not opposed to conferring Bharat Ratna on Vajpayee or on CPI-M veteran Jyoti Basu.
"I have to come to know through the media that the government of India is considering to confer Bharat Ratna on Vajpayee and Basu. I support it but at the same time it should also be given to Kanshi Ram," Mayawati said.

I was looking at the Feedjit logs (the one on the right hand side bottom which also shows where the readers are from), and I fell off my chair, almost. This is hilarious!!! See the image below if you have to see what I mean.

Some (un)holy soul must have been doing a research on "call girl contact" in Bangalore and he reached the 5th page on google and actually clicked on my site. Here is how it looked! I still cannot stop laughing. I was LMAO and was ROTFL...

I make it once on page 4, twice in to the glorified Google list on page 5, and once more on 6. (If you are clicking on the links to see, be careful of what people might think you are doing! :-) ). And for me, not the best way of making it into the Google results list. But what the heck, I had a hearty laugh.

Also, it was quite a consolation to see what all results Google threw up before suggested mine. There was Deccan Herald, Metroblogs, Some Islamic Voice (wonder what the Mullahs are going to do about it), The Hindu, DNA, Jobs,... And since today I am really sore with Google, I think they don't really do a very good job when someone is searching for "call girls and escorts in Bangalore". :D

For one, I pity the bloke. First, on what he was doing. Second, on the fact that he knows little on how to do google search. At least put a quote around your keywords? And then the fact that he was looking at the 5th Page (each page of 100 results) before he clicked on my site... what was he doing? A market survey?

And this is how I am going to use this "event" in my SEO quest and to make some affiliate money. Yes, that is what is my new year mission. First, I am going to throw in the keyword (around call girls, escort service, Bangalore, phone numbers, find call girls, Bangalore girls, Bangalore escorts), then find some appropriate Ad (like friendfinder, matrimonial (yes, someone who reaches this post because of those keywords needs to get married, unless he already is), whatever), and then see the moolah raking in!

What the heck, will post this anyway and add the escort ads later! :D Done it now.

Enjoy, and do click on my ads. Unlike Adsense (which sucks), I can now tell you to click my Ads and help me retire earlier than what it would have been otherwise.

A List of affiliate programs in India

If you are a blogger, and if you are out to make money out of blogging, you may want to check out some of the affiliate programs that are relevant for Indian audiences.

There are alternatives to PPC, CPM etc. and affiliate marketing is supposed to be a better (read richer) way. All this is new to me, so was exploring what it takes to be an affiliate. Indian Affiliate Programs have evolved a lot from what I imagined, and here is my research results.

'Australians complaining about sledging is a laugh'

Crises need a set of unlikely circumstances to come together if they are to erupt. The events at Sydney over the last few days have seen one such unfortunate combination of events that nearly derailed India’s tour Down Under.Anyone who has watched cricket over a reasonable length of time knows that there are matches when umpires goof up in a big way. Though nearly all matches witness a couple or so umpiring mistakes, there are some that see such errors being made so frequently that it raising suspicion and a hue and cry. Sydney was one such match. But even that by itself was not enough to create the kind of commotion that has been raked up since Sunday. What proved the catalyst was the decision on Harbhajan Singh’s ban for three matches.Or take it the other way. Had Harbhajan Singh been banned at the end of an otherwise regular test match in an unfair way, players would have protested, the BCCI would have raised its voice, but the tour would have gone on without hiccups.
What sealed the Australians’s fate was the coming together of these two circumstances. Harbhajan’s ban at the end of the Test match convinced the Indian team that there was a method in the attack that was unleashed on them since day one of the Test match. In retrospect, it is the ban that needs to be seen most critically for it sets a dangerous precedent. What the decision by Mike Procter means is that if five players of one side accuse one from the other side of racist abuse, it will be deemed enough to invite punishment even if there is no evidence from umpires or the camera to corroborate the allegation.
This makes it easy for a team to put down any member of the opposite side who is making life difficult for them. For example, the Indians can draw up a strategy of provoking someone like Mathhew Hayden in the next Test match at Perth. Being the big strong Aussie that he is, Hayden is bound to retort. Now all that the Indians need to do to ensure that he doesn’t play the fourth game at Adelaide is to encircle him so that they can tell the match referee later that he abused X or Y in a racist way. Simple isn’t it?
What the Harbhajan episode does, if we are to believe the Australians, is to introduce a new form of sledging. All these years, sledging has been indulged in by the fielding team. It’s easier to heckle someone while fielding since there are 11 men of one team present, as against two batsmen from the opposite side. Also, taunting your opponent is simpler while fielding because batting requires a certain level of concentration which most batsmen attain by ignoring remarks from members of the other team.
But now we are being told that Harbhajan is this macho guy who, even as he is surrounded by 11 sturdy Australians, has the cheek to hurl racist abuse at one of them and then manage to go on batting as if nothing had happened at all.In any case, the Australians made a tactical error of pushing the Harbhajan episode after they had won the Test with the help of dubious umpiring. Common sense should have told them that with the match in their kitty, upping the ante on the racial abuse matter would prove counter-productive.

New Hampshire Primary Results Polls 2008: Who will it be?

New Hampshire Primary Results - this will be a good indication for the big polls.

I have started following the US campaign with some interest - Last time around when Bush Jr. was made the hero, didn't care much. But after seeing what he has done to the world, can't but help be intrigued.

Who will it be? Hillary? Barrack Obama? Actually, either way I am happy - both are from minority clans...

Aussie paper morphs Symonds into Hanuman

An Australian newspaper on Monday published a picture of Andrew Symonds with his face superimposed on Hanuman's body, giving a comic touch to the racial slur furor in the Sydney Test.

"Symonds baney Hanuman" ran the caption on the photograph in the Courier Mail, which was beamed by some Indian TV channels on Monday night.

The photograph was published a day after off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was banned for three Tests after ICC match referee Mike Procter upheld the Australian charge that he had racially abused all-rounder Symonds by calling him a "monkey".

Best Advertisement of 2007?

Indian advertising has evolved a lot from the "washing powder Nirma" and "mere liye Rasna" days. A few years back, I used to absolutely love the Cadbury's ads (the girl dancing on the cricket field).

This year (ok, last year 2007) - I will give it to the Airtel "There is no wall, no barrier if we talk" one. I think this is the best of the lot - not just for the beautiful location, execution - but for the equally beautiful message.

Here you go! Enjoy!

Cricket: India Australia test series: Shall we come back home, Papa?

How can I not talk of cricket when the whole world is! Dunno about you, but I felt obnoxiously nauseated when I saw the Aussies celebrating. They must have wanted the 16th win real bad.

Anyway, It was heartening to see Kumble maintain his calm and poise. And grace. Gavaskar was all praises and told him "you have been a good ambassador of the game, keep it going".

Interesting to see how Gavaskar reacted some years back when he walked out with team on bad umpiring. Check out this video of Gavaskar's walking out.

Maybe Kumble and "his boys" should do that! I am sure Ganguly Dada would have reacted differently in this situation - loved his acts at Lords!

Productivity Toolbox: - Tools for Taking Action and Getting Things Done

This was shared by a colleague - I think this is a WoW list! What do you think?

Here is a list of the best resources and tools available for getting things done, and being productive.

Project and Task Management Tools

ActionThis
Actionthis.com
ActionThis is a web-based service for managing projects and tasks and making sure they get finished. They use your everyday tools to help you get stuff done and go home early. Really nice interface and an elegantly-simple “Plan it, Do it, Improve” methodology.

Actionize.com
Actionize is a nearly complete system of small business tools. They have a project manager, task manager, calendar, and contact manager. “Getting Business Done” is their slogan.

Basecamp.com
Basecamp is the project management and collaboration tool from the well-known 37signals. It is an excellent system that I think is both simple and flexible. It’s generally just very good, and I recommend it to anyone in small business.

Clarizen.com
Clarizen is a project management system design with the goal of “Making Projects Real.” They have a decidedly big-business feel, but are priced well within reach of most small businesses.

Productivity Blogs and Websites

Zen Habits
ZenHabits.net
Zen Habits is a blog about achieving goals, being productive, being organized, getting things done, and forming useful habits. It is written by the moderately famous (in the blogosphere) Leo Babauta. This is one of my personal favorite blogs.

To-Done.com
To-Done.com is a relatively unknown blog written by a few different people who are interested in productivity and getting things done. The writing is high quality, and the tips are always useful.

Lifehacker.com
Lifehacker is a well known blog that writes about working smarter and living more productively. It has a decidedly techy spin, so make sure you like technology before delving into this one.

43folders.com
43 Folders is a website by Merlin Mann about personal productivity, time management, life hacks, and simple ways to make your life a little better. His site has a blog, forums, and a very active job board.

Lifehack.org
Lifehack.org (not the same as lifehacker.com) is a daily digest of productivity pointers, tips for getting things done, and useful life hacks. This blog is a great read for anyone looking to get more done.

Productivity and Execution Books

Getting Things Done for Small BusinessGetting Things Done
The book that started the revolution. Getting Things Done is the most famous resource about completing your tasks and checking things off of your to-do list. Written by the now-famous David Allen, it is a must read if you haven’t already.

imageThe 4 Hour Work Week
Another revolutionary book, The 4 Hour Work Week focuses on outsourcing and having people complete things for you. Why is this on a productivity and taking action list? Because having other people do your work has the same result in the end, and it can be a life saver.

Self-Discipline in 10 Days
At the core of taking action and getting things done lies self-discipline. This book is a great resource for those looking to learn more.

The Now Habit
Procrastination is the enemy of productivity. This book offers a strategic program for overcoming procrastination.

Getting Things Done Tools

Vitalist
Vitalist.com
Vitalist is an awesome web application designed to help organize actions and projects online. They use David Allen’s GTD system to create what a lot of people are saying is the best way to keep organized online. I’m pretty close to agreeing with them.

Simple GTD is another web application built around David Allen’s GTD system. They are completely free, and offer a simple way to organize your stuff online.

ThinkingRock.com.au
Thinking rock is another free application for organizing your thoughts with the GTD methodology. This one is a desktop based program.

Nozbe.com

(or anything else) again.

Todoist is an online task and to-do manager that’s pretty darn easy to use and has a nice interface to boot. Can’t beat it for free.

TuDuMo.com
Tudumo is a small and downloadable program that helps you manage to-do’s and other tasks. It can handle the GTD system as well.

Time Tracking and Management

Harvest Time Management
GetHarvest.com
Harvest is the self-proclaimed world’s best time tracking software, and I wouldn’t say that’s far off. Time is money, and it’s crucial for a business to know how its employees (and owners) are spending their time. Harvest is designed and built for small businesses.

MeeTimer.com
MeeTimer is probably the most useful FireFox extension I’ve ever seen. It tracks how much you browse the web for work, and how much you’re goofing-off (you can specify which sites count as work). This will either seriously depress you or increase your productivity ten-fold.

SlimTimer.com
SlimTimer made the list because of their slogan&mdashMake love not timesheets. Other than that, it’s a simple web-based time tracker. Create tasks, time your work, run reports.

ClockingIt.com
ClockingIt is a free web application that will keep track of your tasks and the time you spend on them. It’s really well designed, and fully featured, considering it is available for free.

Toggl.com
Free online time tracking, not much more, not much less.

Calendars and Scheduling

Calendar Hub
CalendarHub
A well designed web based calendar that you can use privately, with a group, or even publish to a website. It looks a lot like Google Calendar, but it definitely has some unique benefits. I specifically like that they make it easy for you to publish on other sites like a blog or company homepage.

Google Calendar
The ten-thousand pound gorilla happens to have a really nice calendar application. In Google’s typical style, it is well designed with a clean and very usable interface. The crown jewel is complete interactivity with Gmail and other Google apps.

Acuity Scheduling
Acuity Scheduling is a neat web application that lets your clients or customers schedule appointments with you online. It can even handle the billing aspect as well—with complete PayPal integration. If you rely on scheduled appointments for business, you should really check this out.

Jotlet.net
Jotlet is just like any other web based calendar with one exception; they allow you to customize the calendar with your company logo and branding. You can even integrate it into your own website.

Planning and Goal Setting

PlanHQ
PlanHQ.com
PlanHQ is a beautiful web application that helps companies manage and update a business plan. It is designed for start-up teams that are constantly creating and updating goals, and they even include some task management to help you reach those goals.
